It is a structure with real wind load, and the parts that matter are invisible once it is done: how deep and how wide the post footings are, how the posts are anchored to those footings, how the beams are connected so the whole thing does not rack sideways, and, on an attached pergola, how the ledger is flashed and fastened into actual house framing instead of just siding. We build the parts you cannot see to the standard that keeps the parts you can see straight.

The work runs in order: confirm freestanding versus attached and lay out the footprint, dig and pour properly sized post footings, set and brace posts true, install beams and rafters with rated connections, and, for attached units, flash and lag the ledger into framing. We do not set posts in a shallow hole and hope; the footing is sized for the structure and the wind it has to take.

Material choice drives how it ages in the Central Valley. Rough sun and long Lodi-to-Sacramento summers are hard on untreated wood; we walk you through cedar and treated lumber versus low-maintenance composite and aluminum, and orient the structure so it actually throws shade when you use the yard. Because ADC holds a General B license, if the pergola is attached and the tie-in or any added lighting needs to be done right, it is handled under one accountable contract.
